Viscomate™

Medical & Pharmaceutical

Viscomate™ Overview

VISCOMATE™ is the water-soluble polymer and used for the pharmaceutical excipients (for external use), cosmetics materials, and industrial thickener. Particularly neutralized polyacrylate (acrylic acid / sodium acrylate copolymer) created by original technique developed by Resonac (formerly SHOWA DENKO K.K.) with unique technologies.
This particularly neutralized polyacrylate (NP grade) is mainly used as a raw material for poultice or cooling sheet. NP-grade is already registered to US-DMF and got the Chinese Import Drug License (IDL).

We limit the administration route only for general external and membrane as the application of medical use. (Not sold for food additives and feed additives.)

Comparison of VISCOMATE™ Grade

Formulation Reference

Pour glycerin into a 200mL beaker, add aluminum hydroxide gel, and stir with a spatula until homogenous. Next, add VISCOMATE™ and stir until homogenous. To that, add 5 mL of a pre-prepared aqueous solution of tartaric acid, and thicken with a spatula. Continue to stir for a while after all of the aqueous solution of tartaric acid has been added, then transfer the sol to a designated container. As an example, with the mixture in table 1, it is known that when mixing the materials according to the procedure described above, grades of VISCOMATE™ with greater acrylic acid content will quickly start cross-linking and solidify.

Application

For: Cooling patch, Eye gel patch, Face mask patch, and so on

After dispersing VISCOMATE™ onto a moistening agent such as glycerin, adding water and kneading together with the cross-linking agents of aluminium compounds and organic acids, and aqueous gel raw material sol is formed.

The role of VISCOMATE™ in this aqueous gel are:
1. Gives gels adhesion property
2. Gives the ability to main shape
3. Retains water/solvent inside the gel

** Unlike gels formed by agar or carrageenan, VISCOMATE™ gels have viscidity, are not easily torn when stretched apart, and have elastic resilience.

          Epoxy Molding Compound (EMC) NH-860

          Epoxy Molding Compound (EMC)

          EMC NH-860 Overview

Resonac Corporation is one of the top providers of Epoxy Molding Compound (EMC) for semiconductor industry, with more than 30 years’ experience. In Malaysia, we have 2 manufacturing sites and 1 R&D facility to support our local as well as world-wide customers. With the growing Automotive industry, semiconductor packaging has become increasingly challenging with requirement to meet AEC-Q100 Grade0 MSL1 standard and beyond. Resonac Corporation is developing new EMC to meet this challenge – NH-860 series. It is designed with low modulus and high adhesion strength to prevent delamination, and thus improving package reliability. NH-860 series meets good MSL and package reability performance with non-roughened QFN package.

In addition, NH-860 series enables semiconductor package leadframe to switch from roughened to non-roughened surface. Thus, it has good potential for overall package cost down.

Join us in this journey towards AEC-Q100 and beyond.

          Performance

Through internal evaluation, NH-860K2 can meet good MSL performance for QFN and SOP packages as shown in table below.

          Note: all leadframes are non-roughened.
Note: NH-860K2 is improvement from NH-860 which is the initial development item.

By using NH-860K2, it enables package cost reduction by changing leadframe (or lead-frame) from roughened to non-roughened surface.

NH-860 has low modulus and high adhesion properties to prevent delamination.

            Product Details

Apprecier™ (APPS) Premium Vitamin C derivative

Apprecier is a stabilized provitamin C formed from L-ascorbyl 2-phosphate (aqueous Vitamin C) and L-ascorbyl 6-palmitate (oil soluble Vitamin C), an amphipathic compound. L-ascorbyl 2-phosphate is a strong scavenger of free radicals and is capable of promoting collagen synthesis in the skin, effective for anti-aging. L-ascorbyl 6-palmitate is a fat-soluble form of vitamin C, and is capable of getting into the lipid domains of biological systems. It can protect cell membranes and Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL) against oxidation. Apprecier™ is easily soluble in water and forms an emulsion, which helps its infiltration into the dermis through the epidermis.

            Ascomate-C™ (APM)

Ascomate-C™ or Ascorbyl Phosphate Magnesium (magnesium L-ascorbyl 2-phosphate, APM) is stable vitamin C (ascorbic acid, AsA) derivatives. APM have mainly been utilized as an active ingredient of whitening cosmetics. Recent investigations show us various possibilities to utilize them as multi functioning, stable “provitamin C”. Intradermal and Ectodermal protective effects against UV-generated radicals suggest these materials would be suitable for UV-care products as well. APM is stable under atmospheric conditions, safe and effective quenchers of intradermal reactive oxygen species, physiologically more effective than native vitamin C, capable of improving various skin problems.

Liquid chromatography (LC) uses liquid as mobile phase (eluent). It is an analytical method that separates a mixture of compounds based on their physical and chemical differences. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is a method that introduces the mobile phase under high-pressure conditions resulting in rapid and high-performance separations. The various interactions between the analyte, stationary phase (packing material) and mobile phase are the key factors for the separation. A wide variety of separation modes can be achieved by using particular combinations of stationary and mobile phases.

Shodex™ provides both of Silica-based and Polymer-based HPLC columns. we have wide ranges of application, knowledge and experience to support your analysis e.g. Reversed-phase, Sugar, Polymers, Pullulan/Polystyrene standards for calibration, Environment analysis and etc.

Cleaning Sheet for Semiconductor Process – Improve Productivity Solution

                  Mold Die Cleaning Sheet (CS)

                  Overview

Continuous molding work in semiconductor sealing processes causes resin to adhere to molds, making them dirty due to generated gas. Regular cleaning and shorter cleaning time are required to reduce loss in semiconductor manufacturing processes and to maintain the quality. Our mold cleaning sheets can be used to clean in the same process as product molding. In addition, they realize cleaning in fewer processes than conventional cleaning methods, helping increase productivity.

One of the mold cleaning methods in semiconductor sealing processes is to transfer stains from the mold surface with a cleaning material composed of melamine resin. Because cleaning with melamine resin is specialized for cavities, the method is not good at cleaning air vents and parting surfaces, requiring at least 10 shots to remove stains. The improvement of the efficiency of cleaning processes and shorter cleaning time are required to reduce manufacturing costs.

                  Innovative Solution

Our mold cleaning sheets in the <N-CS Series> are cleaning materials composed of thermosetting synthetic rubber. Because they are made of synthetic rubber, you can fill entire mold surfaces including cavities and parting surfaces with cleaning materials by placing sheets on a mold, sandwiching them between molds, and heating it. This process removes stains caused by gas, thin burrs, and clogging of air vents. In addition, the cleaning agent contained in the sheets dissolves stains and removes stain components by transferring them to the sheet; therefore, the mold can be cleaned with fewer shots than cleaning with melamine resin. The sheets shorten cleaning time, which helps boost productivity. They can be applied to both transfer molding and compression molding processes.

Cleaning Performance of Mold Cleaning Sheets

Mold stain vs no of cleaning shots※The graph above shows the cleaning performance as index after continuous molding work (300 shots) with our sealant. If burned stains are accumulated in a mold, a large number of shots will be required to remove them. Moreover, mold cleaning sheets may stick strongly to the accumulated stains. In that case, an overhaul of the mold is required: for example, continuous cleaning with mold cleaning sheets until the level of stains reduces to zero, and full cleaning or re-plating of molds.

                  Product Features

                  • Shortens mold cleaning time by up to 30% (compared with cleaning with melamine resin)

Cleaning with our cleaning sheets requires a smaller number of shots than melamine resin; therefore, the sheets can shorten the required time per cleaning by up to 30%.

                  i. Simulation: how our cleaning sheets shorten cleaning time

※Conditions: Target molding material: Green compound, Target mold: mold for sealing materials (This simulation was performed by Resonac Corporation.)

※If burned stains accumulate in the mold, more shots are required than shown above.

※The combination of mold cleaning sheets and the number of shots vary depending on the molding material.

                  • Two types are available so they can be applied to various shapes of molds

The level of filling in molds varies depending on the design of cavities on your molds and the orientation of the cleaning sheet arrangement. We offer two types: Standard Type and Excellent-Filling Type. We will propose the product lineup that best suits your conditions.

                  i. Terms of use (Recommended)

                    SBN™ K-TIP™

                    Automotive

                    SBN™ K-TIP™ Overview

SBN K-TIP™ is a sintered compact of cubic boron nitride (cBN) manufactured by Resonac (formerly Showa Denko K.K.) from specially prepared cBN on the strength of the company’s ultra-high pressure technology.

SBN K-TIP™ is morphologically featured in that cBN grains constitute the skeleton with special binders filling voids and creating coherent bonds. Use of SBN K-TIP™ is recommended for the purpose of cutting hard ferrous alloys and difficult to work materials and for a raw material of wear resistant part. SBN K-TIP™ is available with twelve various grades for a wide range of machining materials.

In addition to KT series (sintered cBN layer supported by cemented carbide), solid types (KS series: KS10, KS25, KS30X; consisting of solely sintered cBN) are also available.
